2017/2018 Winter UK. Skoda Fabia 2wd. Winter tyres. I was driving up and down steep country roads that 4wd's with mud tyres couldn't.
There is no reason for ANY car not to be driving in snow with WINTER tyres. DO IT next winter.

What is the point testing a Summer tire on snow? The correct test is between All Season tires and Winter tires, and even the more recent All Weather tires.

How well do they wear on dry tarmac at all varying uk winter temperatures though? If they’re a softer compound I’m guessing they don’t last long at all, if we were guaranteed a few months or even weeks of constant wet and snow then I’m sure more people would use winter tires, but it’s currently February and after a while of pretty warm spring weather we’re now hit with the worst snow and cold weather for years and nobody’s going to swap their tires around like that.

The evidence prooves that winter tyres are useful in snow. on the NW of Briatin we have had one morning of snow, but not on the road as it cleared before commute traffic started

Winter tires are mandatory by law in the cold months where I live. I have winter tires mounted on for 2 full years now.

Ignoring the fact that winter tires won't actually stop because they would overheat on normal road use when it's warm.. and the fact that the winter tire would deteriorate 2-3 times faster in warm..

All nice and dandy but you forgot to add that winter tyres (due to softer rubber) wear of alot lot faster if there's no snow/ice on the road

In the state of Georgia the snow we get here melts in the day and then turns into ice at night. I wonder if we should get winter tires for that as well.
